Programs and activities

ADAO has a range of programs and activities that are designed to support sustainable
livelihoods and promote development in Afghanistan. These programs and activities are
aligned with the thematic areas of focus that the organization has identified, including support
and solidarity for widows and orphans, women’s empowerment, education, community
physical infrastructures, emergency response and preparedness, youth empowerment, and
democracy.

  1. Humanitarian Program: ADAO’s humanitarian program is focused on providing
    emergency relief to vulnerable communities affected by conflict, natural disasters, and
    other crises. This program includes the provision of emergency shelter, food, water, and
    other basic necessities, as well as support for vulnerable groups such as women,
    children, and people with disabilities.

  2. Agriculture and Livelihoods Program: ADAO’s agriculture and livelihoods program
    is designed to promote sustainable agriculture and livelihoods opportunities for
    vulnerable communities, particularly those in rural areas. This program includes support
    for smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and other vulnerable groups, as well as the
    promotion of sustainable natural resource management practices.
  3. Formal Education: ADAO’s formal education program is focused on providing quality
    education to vulnerable children, particularly girls. This program includes support for
    schools, teachers, and students, as well as the provision of educational materials and
    resources.
  4. Primary Health Care Program: ADAO’s primary health care program is focused on
    providing basic health care services to vulnerable communities, particularly women and
    children. This program includes the provision of health care services, as well as support
    for health care facilities and staff.
  5. Nutrition Program: ADAO’s nutrition program is focused on addressing malnutrition
    in vulnerable communities, particularly children under five years old. This program
    includes the provision of nutritional support and education, as well as support for health
    care facilities and staff.
  6. Protection and Advocacy Program: ADAO’s protection and advocacy program is
    focused on promoting and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups, particularly
    women and children. This program includes support for legal aid, advocacy, and
    awareness-raising activities.
  7. Water, Sanitation and Promotion of Hygiene Program: ADAO’s water, sanitation,
    and promotion of hygiene program is focused on promoting access to clean water and
    sanitation facilities, as well as promoting good hygiene practices. This program includes
    the provision of water and sanitation facilities, as well as hygiene education and
    awareness-raising activities.

  8. Youth Capacity Development Program: ADAO’s youth capacity development
    program is focused on promoting the development of young people’s skills and
    capacities, particularly in areas such as leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic
    engagement. This program includes support for vocational training, mentorship, and
    other capacity-building activities.
  9. Micro-Enterprise Development Program: ADAO’s micro-enterprise development
    program is focused on promoting the development of small businesses and income
    generating activities for vulnerable communities. This program includes support for
    small business development, financial literacy training, and access to microfinance.
    Overall, ADAO’s programs and activities are designed to support sustainable livelihoods and
    promote development in Afghanistan, with a particular focus on the needs and aspirations of
    vulnerable communities. By applying sustainable livelihoods approaches, ADAO aims to
